SETTING UP THE NURSERY

Beverly's Testimonial

We saved ourselves money and the frustration of not knowing what to buy for our nursery and soon to come first baby. The information we received was invaluable. I can highly recommend this service to any first time parents.

Linda - Randwick, NSW

Unfortunately we didn’t know about this service till after the baby shower even so the information we received was extremely valuable.  We were given such helpful information which certainly prepared both my husband and I for the hospital visit and for our baby’s home coming.  Our coach then returned to help us with our newborn.  I’d definitely recommend this service to any first time parents, to help you prepare for your baby.

Joanne's Comments

Thanks to Cradle 2 Kindy we were able to stock up our nursery with essentials. There were several items that we avoided buying, which meant we could spend on other more essential things. We had lots of questions answered and every aspect of our new baby’s life at home was covered from feeding equipment, bathing, and nursery needs. Even our dog, who has been our first baby until now, is in training. I can truly recommend this service to any expectant parents. It has been an eye opener in many areas and money well spent.

NEWBORN (0-3 months)

Caroline's Comments

With our first child we had no idea what we were doing. Our parenting coach from Cradle 2 Kindy was a tremendous help. All the basics were covered and more giving us the confidence we needed to parent effectively. I remember thinking how great it was to have our baby in a 'routine' so much earlier then most of the other babies we knew at the time. I'd highly recommend Cradle 2 Kindy to any first time parent or anyone having difficulties adjusting to and coping with a new baby.

Wendy's Comments

Cradle 2 Kindy provided us with a parenting coach who gave both myself and my partner the confidence to settle a newborn, even though it was our second baby, we had a lot to learn. Our coach was a great help and would recommend Cradle 2 Kindy services to any new or old parents.

Adele's Story

Cradle 2 Kindy provided a fantastic routine that was very simple to stick.  It has given me so much time during the day that I know feel like a have a life, getting things done for myself.  We were also provided with great knowledge and resources to ensure we knew as much as possible about issues we had with our newborn.  Any new parent would greatly benefit from a session with Cradle 2 Kindy.

Kathy's Letter of Thanks

The service and advice from Cradle 2 Kindy far exceeded my expectations.  Information provided was carefully explained and in notes which I am constantly referring back to.  We feel confident and happy to continue the routine and settling techniques that were shown and breastfeeding is no longer painful!!!  And the ongoing support is invaluable.  I should have called you sooner!  Thank you!!

Anna's Comments

As a first time Mum and in my first week of sleep deprivation and breastfeeding issues, I was very overwhelmed and really not sure where to turn.  A friend from work had nothing but praise for Cradle 2 Kindy and I thought I had nothing to lose.  Our coach was here on the same day I called which was a real blessing as I was quite overwhelmed at the time.  She more than lived up to her reputation.  I had two pages of questions that she very patiently let me work through, although most were answered during the course of her visit. She was very empathetic and practical with great tips on settling and feeding.  She helped me implement new feeding and sleeping routines that have made for a much happier baby.  I have learnt that over feeding and cuddling too much are NOT the secrets to a happy baby.  An excellent service.

Brenda's Testimonial - 3 week old

We were feeling incredibly daunted with our new life as parents, looking after a new baby was completely overwhelming. My husband and I were sleep deprived and I was teary. We were being given all sorts of advice. Nothing worked! Then we heard about Cradle 2 Kindy parenting solutions. That was the most life-changing day since our baby was born! The methods taught gave us the energy and confidence to cope. Further down the track when our baby was four months old we asked Cradle 2 Kindy back to help our baby drop the night feed and encourage her to sleep through the night. We have gained a wealth of information, good practical guidelines and if we still have queries there is always someone on the end of the phone to help us. I have recommended Cradle 2 Kindy to many friends, their methods have been a great hit! We would welcome Cradle 2 Kindy back into our home anytime.

Kerri's Testimonial

After coming home from hospital, my husband and I were worried we were patting our son to sleep.  Whilst this was effective, we were worried in 7 months time we would still be doing the same thing. C2K was recommended to me by a work colleague.  The same day I called, our coach was at my house 6 hours later providing my husband and I with invaluable advice.  I would recommend Cradle 2 Kindy's service to any new parents wanting to establish good sleep / feeding routines for newborns.

Jan's Comments

* Cradle 2 Kindy has a good website and good customer service.  I was really happy with the service I received.   Our coach was able to come and see me the same day I made an inquiry which was a big relief and I was able to start on the program ASAP.  I learnt more from this visit about routine and settling than with other books/courses and even from a stay at one of the mothercraft centres here in Sydney.

Jenny's Testimonial

We learnt so much for our coach she gave such wonderful advice.  All my questions were answered and the advice and tips through the day were very helpful and practical both my husband and I benefited from the visit. Being a first time mum I am unsure of what the correct or best thing is for my child.  Our coach helped me set a routine which makes me feel more confident in what I am doing. We are very grateful for all we have learnt from such a kind, patient and very knowledgeable woman we would like to thank her for all her help.

Wendi's Comments

We received practical information and help that I was able to use immediately.  I came away from the session feeling much better equipped to settle my baby.

Jane's Story

We were desperate! There was no one who seemed to understand our problem. Our baby just wouldn't sleep. We tried everything and everyone, and all we seemed to get was 'all babies cry' or 'not every baby needs sleep'. This just did not sit right with us. We knew there must be something more we could do for our baby. It wasn't till we found a coach from Cradle 2 Kindy that we realised there was something more we could do.  And what's more they didn't just brush us off with all the pat answers. We were given practical tips that made sense, and more importantly, brought results. Our suspicions were confirmed, questions answered and problems rectified - all within the first visit. We only wish we had found them sooner.

Nicola's Comments

Our coach made us feel comfortable right for the start.  She fitted in to our family like an old friend. The difference was she came with a wealth of knowledge and experience that gave us confidence to trust her with the well being our child. Bondi, NSW

Fiona's Testimonial

Cradle 2 Kindy was recommended to us by a work colleague the day before I went on maternity leave. Of all the baby recommendations that were given to us it’s been the best. Our coach came to us on day 2 after coming home from hospital. By having her in so early it helped us get confidence where we had none as we had no prior experience in parenting or indeed with young children.

Our baby boy looks like he has reflux, we were given some practical solutions to try and overcome this early. We were taught about the importance of trying to get into a routine and were given lots of settling techniques to try and ensure we do the best for our baby and retain our sanity. We had no idea what to expect and what was “normal baby behaviour”.

The time when you come out from hospital is when you are most tired and vulnerable – and it’s when you need most energy and knowledge to get through the first few weeks! C2K’s home visit helps get you over that hump and gave the three of us lots of ideas and helped get us some rest!  Our parenting coach didn’t judge us by how tidy our house was or how stressed or emotional we were.

Now we are learning every day and with our coach providing us an invaluable back up by phone service it has helped us to tackle things head on and with a lot more confidence than we would have had otherwise.

Michelle’s Email

Sally was our nurse at my son’s Brit Milah.  Although we weren’t having problems yet, Sally told us that she suspected he had reflux.  A few weeks later, after I started having breast feeding problems with him and the screaming started, I called Sally and she spent the next few weeks giving me invaluable advice and support as the reflux became very unpleasant for my son and for our family.  I remember calling Sally in very desperate moments and she always had the time to talk to me, calm me down, give me hope and clear, strong advise.  Once I got my son seen by the right paediatrician (which she also helped with), who put him on another medication and told me to do just what Sally had suggested, he improved dramatically.  Every time the symptoms started coming back, I would speak to Sally and she just helped me to trust my instincts and return to the paediatrician to adjust the medication.

I am so grateful that I found Sally so early on, as I suspect that the many months of my first son not sleeping, feeding badly and being unsettled was undiagnosed reflux, and it was life saving to sort this out so early with my second child.

Thank you Sally, from my whole family, for helping us to find a solution in those very difficult days and for your wonderful support and guidance.

Best regards,
Michelle Fox

Mother of 4, Natalye's Comment

Once again a big thank you for today. Even being a mother of 4 I still have learnt so much today.  I have forwarded your details to a friend of mine.

Claire's Comment

Sally really knows her stuff and acts as an advocate for the baby. Her history as a nurse who has worked with babies and children of all ages for so long is very reassuring. And no one can dispute those hospital corners of hers! When you see someone so deftly making a bed, you know you're dealing with someone who's been in the care industry for a long time. When you're struggling with the first bout of settling, Sally's calm and officious manner reminds you that she's done it hundreds of times over, and it must work - otherwise she wouldn't be in business! Definitely! We learnt what we were doing wrong, as hard as it was to hear.  All babies want to sleep and it was US that was preventing Mei from getting the precious sleep she so needed. We know where we went wrong, and how to keep everything on track moving forward.

Beth's Testimonial

The sleep solutions we learnt from Cradle 2 Kindy, for our three month old son, has proved far more effective than our method of rocking or patting him off to sleep which sometimes took up to one hour. Whilst sometimes it can still take him a little while to fall asleep we no longer have the long stretches of crying which had previously happened.

Daniela's Story

I asked Cradle 2 Kindy to help Colin, our three month old, learn to fall asleep on his own. It ended up being a very simple, effective and painless process, because I was given very clear information. Thank you Cradle 2 Kindy, I can barely imagine that I spent so much time trapped in a 'rocking' cycle.

Katie's Letter of Thanks

Cradle 2 Kindy was absolutely wonderful. So many things I didn't know. I'm much more confident now as my knowledge has increased ten-fold. All my questions were answered it's just incredible what I've learned in one day.  Initially I was mislead about a baby's routine which had my son in an incorrect routine. I was shown within one day how to extend from a 3 - 4 hour routine, how to lengthen tummy time from 10 mins to an hour, how to break the 45 min intruder and how to sleep through the night. Cradle 2 Kindy has changed our life - I am now a confident mother with a happy baby. Thank you.

Leanne's Comments

We enlisted the help of Cradle 2 Kindy when our now 6 month old son was 13 weeks old.  He had become "addicted" to the dummy, and was unable to sleep for longer than 45 minutes in the day, and a few hours at night, due to the dummy falling out. Our parenting coach came and showed us how to help him to learn to settle himself, with gentle techniques and ongoing support which made us confident enough to keep up the strategy she introduced.  Our son is now sleeping through the night, and even on occasion giggles as we lay him down in his cot.  Our experience this time around with Cradle 2 Kindy's help, is so different to our first child who never learnt to self settle.  We are all contented and well rested thanks to the wonderful contribution that our coach has made to our lives.

Carla's Story

My youngest of 3 children was catnapping during the day but sleeping well at night till recently when she began to wake frequently at night too. I was becoming more and more sleep deprived myself. I need my sleep to tend to the everyday demands of our older children. I heard about Cradle 2 Kindy through a friend and gave them a call. Our coach took me through what my baby should be doing for her age and how we were to accomplish our new routine which encouraged our baby girl to sleep longer both day and night.

Now our new routine and all is going well, she is loving the routine and she has been so much easier to put to sleep. I now have time not only for my older children but to read other peoples comments and article on the Cradle 2 Kindy website. The family is functioning much better in just 2 days and I couldn't be happier with her progress. She has been having tummy time and we are getting loads more smiles and happy noises from her.

Carol's email

I didn't realise how easy life could be with a new baby after using your services. The skills my husband and I learnt from you are invaluable. The routine saved my sanity, and your assistance with helping Jack sleep through the night is amazing, I feel confident settling him now, also knowing that I'm doing the best for him and I get to sleep for more than 8 hours.

Lesleigh's Story

It was virtually impossible to settle our baby who would only sleep for 45 mins and if she did sleep it was in the pram or on me! She cried/screamed most of the day. Everyone would try settling her but to no avail. My husband and I were averaging 3 hours sleep a night as she woke every few hours. I had read every book – trying not to overstimulate her, giving her the dummy (I used this all the time) feeding on demand (when she cried), all the settling techniques from Karitane etc. Nothing worked. After 3.5 months of this stress and sleep deprivation, I was physically and mentally exhausted and I could feel myself getting depressed. A friend sent me an article on reflux and my bub had a whole host of the symptoms. I immediately contacted Cradle 2 Kindy and it was the best thing we have ever done. After two nights with our nurse, our baby started sleeping through the night! I am still in a state of shock as I write this (two weeks later). We continued to follow her recommendations and there has only been 2 nights that she hasn’t completely slept through since our nurse came and that is because we had noisy party goers staying next door. She also sleeps during the day now in her cot! She now resettles herself and sleeps without a dummy. I still cannot believe it. She is such a content little thing and feeds much better now too. I feel like I have bonded more with my baby in the past two weeks then in the 3 months prior as she is calm and happy and we can actually play without her screaming during so much of her awake time. I am so relieved that my baby is no longer in pain (thanks to being put on the correct medication) and is actually sleeping. And catching up on sleep is a blessing for me and my hubby too! Thank you Cradle 2 Kindy for your support, professionalism and for your expertise which has changed our lives. I am actually enjoying being a mum now.

Sasha's Letter of Thanks

After struggling for 4 months with friends and families advice, I was at the end of my tether. A friend gave me Cradle 2 Kindy’s number and within 4 hrs we had our consultant at our home helping me. The techniques were practical and my son responded immediately. It was amazing! She listened to my concerns and solved the problems that I was having. The techniques taught were simple and practical and have already changed mine and my son’s life. Being a first time mum should never have been that hard. I will be calling sooner with my second child. Thank you from all of us!

Emma's Testimony

After relocating to Sydney and moving several times before finding a home here our daughter was completely unsettled, clingy, irritable, whinge, and not sleeping well at all. Our routine had been thrown out the window and she had started waking every hour through the night. At our wits end we had a parenting coach from Cradle 2 Kindy over for 2 nights and got our first night’s sleep in months! Our coach was tough but fair and has a wealth of knowledge about parenting skills, for now and future use. We’ve all found our smiles again thanks to the wonderful, easy to follow tips and advice we received.

Dear Sally, Thanks for your email. Since you came to see us Ella has been like a different child! The routine you gave us has been fantastic too and we have found the instructions and advice you gave us easy to follow. We are both so much more confident now and I think that has reflected on Ella also. I find I have so much more time in the day with her new feeding regime which is wonderful.
I find the newsletter emails we receive great for advice; some of the info in them has been very timely.  We really couldn't be happier and are so grateful to you!  Our only regret is not calling Cradle 2 Kindy sooner! Hope all is well with you :) Kind regards, Robyne and Carl

Clair's Comments

I called Cradle 2 Kindy to help me establish a sleeping routine for our seven and a half month old son as he had deteriorated to two twenty minutes naps during the day and waking up nearly every hour during the evening. I had tried breastfeeding on demand, formula top-up, dummy (needing to be put back in every hour), music, rocking and patting to no avail. I read several books on the matter and even tried controlled crying but always found that I could not commit to the procedures as there was always an excuse in my mind as to why he was crying. I was so tired after 6 weeks I felt like a zombie. I was teary and I knew the poor sleep my son was having for his age wasn't doing him any good either. Cradle 2 Kindy was recommended to me by a friend. Over the next 24 hours I learnt all I needed. Once I understood the routine, its variations and the need to teach him the routine it all became so clear. I had really just needed someone to guide me through. He slept through the night on the second night and had longer sleeps during the day. Sure there were days or nights following that were not perfect but I now know what to do in these circumstances. The main difficulties with sleep and settling babies were so easily overcome once I was confident in the routine established. I was so happy knowing it worked for us!

Louise's Comments

We just can’t believe the results. It is absolutely unbelievable. We were really at the end of our tether when we rang Cradle 2 Kindy. We had tried just about every method to prevent our seven month old from waking every two hours.  After the first might with our parenting coach I was still sceptical.  After some reassurance we continued and the results were amazing.  From the second night and it has continued, we all have slept soundly all night! Our eight and a half month old son was causing us serious sleep deprivation, we were being woken up to six times a night, I would be continually feeding him just to get him to be quiet. Our coach from Cradle 2 Kindy arrived when we were at the end of our tether. After two nights we now have a baby that sleeps for eleven hours without waking. We have a much happier baby and parents who feel normal again.  Coogee, NSW

Tina's Testimonial

I found the Cradle 2 Kindy website through a forum on another website where a mother with a similar problem had made a recommendation.  We have a nine month old who catnapped during the day and needed me to rock her in my arms or feed her to sleep.  She was constantly waking during the night and needing my husband or I to settle her and was very dependent on her dummy.  We were at our wits end having tried several methods to try and help her to learn to self settle.  The last method we tried was the pick-up put-down method which nearly broke my back.  I just couldn’t do this any more and needed help.  Cradle 2 Kindy sent a parent coach to our rescue.  She taught us some very practical tips on settling and remained with us for two consecutive nights to support us.  I must admit it was touch but it wasn’t long before we saw a dramatic change.  My husband put her to bed on the second night and it wasn’t long before she was asleep.  I was also amazed at how much happier she was during the day and when she woke up from her sleep she chatted to herself instead of crying.  It was the best money we have ever spent.

Zlata's Story

Thank you to Cradle 2 Kindy and our coaches experience in settling babies. The last 9 months I have suffered severe sleep deprivation. My baby boy would wake me at night every 2 to 3 hours. The best nights were when he would wake me 3 times. I am totally against leaving baby to cry and shutting the door. I have read all the popular books on baby sleep and visited a paediatrician in order to end sleepless nights. Nothing worked. Our coach came over and in 2 nights she was able to teach us to settle our baby boy.  As a result he now sleeps through the night. It wasn't easy, but these 2 nights were worth it. Our coach taught us how to better interpret our sons crying. Now everyone can sleep! My little rascal, me, my husband and neighbours! Hurray! Thank you.

Christine's Testimonial

The good news is that all is going well!  I think since you came to stay with us, I’ve had to get up maybe twice to attend to baby who is now 10 months.  She still wakes up about once a night for a grizzle but will put herself back to sleep after about 5 minutes.  We’ve been a little worried about her waking her sister but she seems to sleep through it.

The baby is also sleeping really well during the day – I usually put her down at around 12 pm and she’ll have a bit of a grizzle but will usually drop off after about 5 minutes and will get a solid two hours. Unheard of!

Our 3 yr old responded really well to the bedtime routine too.  When I tell her it’s time to brush her teeth, she immediately hops off the couch and makes her way to the bathroom.  And then once that’s done, she starts asking for her story.  She’s usually half asleep by the time we get to the end and then she gets tucked up with her teddy.  What a darling.

Thanks so much for your help!  Getting some regular sleep has changed our lives!

Samantha’s Story

Our 10month old little girl has been attending day care part time for the last three months and as is the way with new babies, seems to bring home every cold and sniffle going at the centre. She also suffers from asthma so her colds inevitably turn into bronchiolitis meaning weeks of broken sleep for us all.

Unfortunately my husband and I fell into the trap of getting up and resettling Bella by rocking or patting her every time Bella woke while she was sick. And now 3 months later Bella no longer knows how to sleep through the night even though she's in perfect health! Throw in the dummy and that adds to the frequency of wake ups during the night........ I confess too that we’d stopped putting her down awake at nights, and were rocking or patting her to sleep every night…. Three girlfriends at work have called on Cradle 2 Kindy to help with their babies and their sleep challenges and all highly recommended them.

After nearly 8 weeks of broken sleep and trying to juggle a full time job, I rang Sally and asked for help. Our parenting coach came and stayed for two nights and talked us through what Bella's routine should be, hints on how to handle her reflux and what to expect as Bella learns to self settle. It was ‘cold turkey’ with the dummy – Bella went to sleep the first night without her dummy and really quickly learnt to self settle. We practiced what we learnt the following day and on the 2nd night, Bella was even better at going to sleep on her own. I’m pleased to say that Bella has been ‘dummy free’ ever since and is getting better and better each day. It’s been 7 days and for the last two nights Bella has slept right through and hasn’t even stirred. Oh the joys of getting 7 to 8 hours unbroken sleep………. Cradle 2 Kindy you are a godsend and we promise to be consistent and keep practising everything we’ve learnt!

Our daughter had not slept through the night from 4 months of age. She is now 1 months and after several illnesses she was getting up flour to eight times each night. Cradle 2 Kindy sent us a parenting coach who came and spent two nights with us and by the fourth night she slept through! It has now been a week and she at worst has woken once a night. We can't thank our nurse enough and would strongly recommend Cradle 2 Kindy to anyone who has any situation with their child that requires help.

Danielle's Letter of Thanks

WOW! After I thought 11 months was too late to try changing my daughter's sleep routine, ie rocking her to sleep, along came our Cradle 2 Kindy coach, now it's a matter of putting her to bed awake, and off she goes into sleep slumber!! Thank you Cradle 2 Kindy, you have also given me more husband time!! He thanks you also!

Kimberly's Comments

It has been almost 12 months since we used the services of Cradle 2 Kindly and we couldn't be happier with the outcome.  Jacob was 12 months old at the time and our parenting coach sorted out his sleep problems in 2 nights and Jacob's sleeping improved dramatically, including some nights of 13 hours sleep and his daytime sleeps average around 2 hours with the occasional 3 hour sleep, instead of 40 minute catnaps.  Life is so much easier with Jacob sleeping properly and I am confident in the decisions I make with Jacob if he does night wake, which is all due to the skills and advice provided by our Cradle 2 Kindy parenting coach.  I would encourage all parents that have sleep problems with a child to use the services of Cradle 2 Kindy.

Lynn's Testimonial

I strongly recommend Cradle 2 Kindy to parents who are desperate for sleep. I can confidently say that the earlier you make the decision, the easier it is. Since our visit from our parenting coach for our twelve month old son we have moved house and had many a childhood fever that broke the sleep routine but we were strong and determined not to let things get out of hand. The techniques we learnt from Cradle 2 Kindy helped us to get things back on track.

Nadine's Comments

C2K parenting coach gives you the parent confidence and strength to teach your child no matter how difficult the issue maybe that you are faced with. It's all about teaching the parent the right way to teach your child. Once you have this confirmed from a parenting coach you are well on your way to managing your child behaviour.

Following an illness our 13 month old, Jacob, became dependent on help to go to sleep and eventually slept in bed with my husband and I.  After one month of very little sleep by all of us I was referred to Cradle 2 Kindy by my GP and I was hoping for a miracle, which is exactly what we received.  After 2 nights our parent coach had Jacob sorted out and he now sleeps from 7 pm to 7 am.  Since then there hasn't been any night waking and his day sleeps are getting longer.  He is a different baby, now that he is getting proper sleep, and I am a much better mum for it.  We couldn't be happier with the service provided by Cradle 2 Kindy parenting solutions.  Wollongong, NSW

Hi Sally,
Just thought I'd drop you a line to let you know how wonderful it is to have our lives back...thanks to you!

Since night 4 (2 nights after you left) Sienna has gone down with absolutely no fuss and slept through the night until around 6.45am (over 11 hours).  Her daytime sleeping is also getting better, going down much more easily and increasing the length to consistently over an hour and up to 1hr 45mins.

Last night we had friends around for a dinner party and thought that it might muck things up a bit, however she was amazing.  One minute she was racing around playing with a 5 and 7 year old, and the next we had her all settled and quiet in her bed, with not a sound until 7am. There was no interruption to our entertaining and no need to feel that we had to be especially quiet. Six loud adults and 2 children downstairs didn't seem to disturb her one bit!

We no longer dread bedtime and are confident that, if we need to, we can put Sienna to bed anywhere and she will probably be fine.

Thank you Sally! Sticking to your strategy has really worked for us and we know that if thing do go awry again we should have the skills to quickly get back on track.

Kind Regards,
Merryn and Andrew Byrne

Jacquie’s Testimonial

Cradle 2 Kindy brought sanity to our home. We had an eighteen month old who ruled the house, she had both mummy and daddy tightly twisted around her little finger. We didn't know how to bring order to our home till our eyes were opened to what was happening. Thanks to some practical ground rules we now have a happy toddler and parents who are now a little wiser.

Hi Sally,
Sorry I haven't emailed before now! Just wanted to say a big THANKS again for sorting out our darling baby! She continues to sleep through the night. I still can’t believe that after 18 months of waking every 2-3 hrs she only took 8 minutes to learn to sleep through!!! She is now eating properly too - so no more dramas with that either! It really is amazing - I honestly thought I would never sleep again!! She still goes down to sleep straight away - no resistance.... my husband and I have been out a couple of times now - as we can finally leave her with a babysitter - yahoo!  I wish I had contacted you earlier....
Thanks again, Susan

Sarah’s Story

Our son, 22 months, would not sleep on his own and would wake on the hour and cry when he found his mum or dad was no longer sitting on the edge of his bed. It would take 30 minutes to resettle only for him to wake again and the process was repeated. In short, sleep deprivation had set in in a big way for the whole family. We tried different methods for months – but felt helpless and exhausted as nothing worked. Cradle 2 Kindy sent a parenting coach who changed all this in 48 hours, giving me the confidence and skills to teach my son to sleep for 11 hours a night.  Crows Nest, NSW

C2K has changed our household beyond belief. If someone had told me that by putting the steps in place discussed in one phone call our 2yr old would be staying in bed within 10 minutes and sleeping through the night and back to having day sleeps after 3 nights I wouldn’t have believed it. C2K has given us the tools to be better parents, and given us the chance to spend time together once the kids are in bed by 7pm...not 10pm! Even though we only spoke on the phone and emailed for our coaching we are so pleased with the results! Our parenting coach was always available whenever we had any queries and always took the time to talk through the process without it ever feeling rushed or that our 'issues' weren't important.  Koolunga, South Australia.

Kathaleen's Story

We had ongoing problems getting our toddler to bed and getting her to stay in bed during the night.  She was constantly fighting us in the evenings and often falling asleep in the lounge watching TV.  We knew this was not right but what else could be do!  When put to bed asleep she would wake during the night and sneak into our bed.  If we were to exhausted to move her she would often stay there till the morning.  We called Cradle 2 Kindy in desperation.  Our coach stayed two nights providing assistance and practical tips that really helped.  After 4 nights of following the routine our daughter now happily goes to bed and sleep in till 7 am.  What a change.  I wish we had called them earlier. Gaby's Story

When we contacted Cradle 2 Kindy we were desperately in need of professional help. Our two and a half year old son was impossible to put to bed and woke constantly during the night and was clingy, cranky and insecure during the day. A nurse from Cradle 2 Kindy stayed with us for several nights. Better sleep and feeling we had more control over the situation resulted in a far happier family life for us all. The most interesting change however was in our son. Contrary to our expectations, he totally lost his fears and became a much happier, more confident child. As many new parents have said, "babies and children don't come with a manual. The next best thing is to get professional help when you need it, and the long term benefits to us have been immeasurable, Cradle 2 Kindy has since been back to help us achieve a good routine right from the start with our second child.

Christine’s Story

* The good news is that all is going well!

Our three year old had been waking at 5 am since nine months – nothing we tried worked. Our one year was starting to copy.  We called Cradle 2 Kindy. Our parenting coach installed her ‘magic light’ and within two nights she would not call out until “the magic light is on” at 6.30 am. It’s been four months now and it still works well.  Our one year old also has a magic light now. We wished we had called Cradle 2 Kindy two years ago!!  Balgowlah, NSW

Our daughter was sneaking into our bed during the night. We wanted her in her own bed before she began school. A neighbour told me of their success with Cradle 2 Kindy's techniques. I instantly rang and felt extraordinarily comfortable as they obviously knew what they were doing. It was very exciting to see the results. My husband and I were encouraged to get involved. Now I enjoy sound, undisturbed sleep thanks to Cradle 2 Kindy.

Ella was 5 years old when it occurred to me that there was a problem. Due to our constant travelling and living in small apartments she had slept with us till she was 3yrs old. We finally put her in her own room but she would sneak into my bed during the night.  I was constantly disturbed by her kicking; I was physically worn down with no energy to take her back to her own bed.   I was at my wits end until I heard about Cradle 2 Kindy.  I couldn’t believe how quickly the techniques worked.  We also covered other issues we were facing including temper tantrums, meal and bedtime antics.

I can’t believe we put up with this bad behaviour for so long. Ella is sooo much happier now that we have set boundaries and are all getting a good nights sleep!

Irina's Comments - a family with a baby and a toddler

Parents may ask themselves 'how can we afford to get professional help?' Yet the real question is how can we afford not to get professional help, that is, can our marriage and other children survive the continual crying and distress of an unsettled baby? We can't recommend Cradle 2 Kindy enough! Everyone in our home is happier.

Jennifer's Email - a family a baby and two older siblings

After a hard slog for the first week and probably an increase in the amount of crying in our house - that includes my baby, me, my husband (nearly) and probably my other 2 girls – I have noticed that we are all a lot more relaxed, me especially.  I have time to do things again, and by 7:00-7:30 each night ALL of our kids are in bed and I can relax with my husband.   Every day my baby is easier to resettle and I am getting more and more confident, and less worried about him waking when it’s not time for a feed.  He also seems happier and more relaxed and as you advised, in your e-book, I’m starting to wander round my house wondering what to do with the extra time I’ve got again!  Anyway it’s just on 10pm so it’s time to go and feed!  Regards, Jennifer.

Cradle 2 Kindy provided us with a nurse who helped us put our twins on a routine which has held us in good stead ever since. I breastfed the boys with techniques taught to me by our nurse. Keeping twins in sync with feeds and sleeps is no longer a challenge. Our sons are now six months old and are sleeping 8 -10 hours at night and have a wonderful day routine which gives me time to do the house work.

* My wife and I were absolutely impressed by our coach's knowledge and confidence and more importantly effectiveness.

Here’s a small sample of the mothercraft nurse, we’ve used to assist with our twins. When she came to our home she literally transformed our lives into some form resembling order.  She was to the point, no nonsense and very practical, whilst being aware and considerate of our ways and concerns.  In one afternoon session and a follow up, she had our daughter breastfeeding after us trying with hospital staff for 3 weeks, and helped our son with his reflux . End result……SLEEEEEEP .... HAPPY BABIES...HAPPY WIFE..... HAPPY LIFE!

Caroline's Testimonial

Arriving home from hospital was a daunting experience. The first night home was a shocker waking frequently for feeds! Fortunately help was on its way as my mother had arranged for Sally to help us out for the first week. In no time she had us on a routine that suited the whole family which is quite a task as we have two older children three and five and a half year old. We needed to juggle feed times for all the family, school, daycare and time out for us as a couple. Even with the experience gained from having two older children there was a lot to adjust to with twins especially with feeding them together. We learnt the skills of twin feeding; setting ourselves up and knowing the tricks of the trade really helped. Things seemed to be going well then they began to become more and more unsettled. Our suspicions were confirmed when Sally noticed they were beginning to show signs of reflux. Once on medication both babies settled down to a predictable routine. We are so pleased we had help right from the start. Gordon, NSW

I was a desperate mother of very unsettled twins.  I had searched unsuccessfully for help here in the States but found nothing and no one really understood my babies till searching the web I came across Cradle 2 Kindy Parenting Solutions.  I wrote to Sally who promptly replied with relevant information and suggestions.  She said what I had described sounded like reflux.

Our son always seemed hungry, gnaw on his fists in frustration, and had begun to fuss frequently. He had always been a very noisy sleeper.  He then starting to cry during his feedings (bottle fed about four hours apart) and spits up a lot. His sister often sucked vigorously and then fussed and then sucked again. Sometimes she was a nightmare to feed!

My husband and I try to use the dummy sparingly.  We try to pat and shhh, first, but end up giving in to the dummy.  All day naps were disrupted and most nights!

Over lengthy emails correspondence we finally convinced our doctor to start the babies on medication which needed changing and adjusting till the right dosage helped to settle our babies.

Sally was so considerate and helpful through these difficult months.

I thank you for all your help and suggestions.  For a long time I believed that my babies were just poor sleepers & fussy babies - and that I was doing something wrong.  I can't believe now how many parents have gone through similar issues with their babies.  I wish that there was more support here in the States for parents and their infants.

Isobel's story

Our son George (a twin to Connie) had always been a 'windy' baby.  When I talked to my health visitor in the UK about my concerns she just put it down to the fact that he was on formula.  At 8 months we moved to Sydney, changed formula but the same symptoms continued.  He had never slept through the night, rarely had more than 90ml of milk at bed time and then woke up crying for a bottle between 11 pm and 2am.  Weaning him was quite challenging as he seemed to have so much trapped wind that he would stop eating and appeared really uncomfortable.  Meanwhile his twin sister had no problems at all.  Around the age of 12 months, George suddenly started waking up in the night screaming in agony.  For hours on end he would scream and writhe around in pain, lifting up his legs, burping, farting and moaning.  We just didn't know how to help him - nothing seemed to settle him - not even the milk that he was still having in the night.  The only way he calmed down was if my husband or I walked around the house holding him over our arm - he yelled if we even perched on the arm of a chair.

I took him to the GP who examined him and sent him for an abdominal ultrasound.  I heard nothing back from the GP so called in a week later to see what they had found.  The US revealed nothing and the report came back that 'no action was required' - BUT we needed some action! George was getting worse and we were losing the plot.  So, back to the GP who told us to try Mylanta.  We did.  It did nothing. By this stage poor George was so sleep deprived and in agony and had been for weeks.  We were due to see a Paediatrician in a further couple of weeks about another ongoing issue George has but there was no way we could wait that long for help and the GP did not seem to have any answers.

I had reached a really low point by now and insisted that my husband did 2 nights on duty in a row as otherwise I was heading for the funny farm.  After the first night he realised how bad George had got and agreed we had to find help.  So, the following day I scoured the internet for numbers and Mark sent out 2 or 3 emails.  The name that stood out during my research was 'Sally' from Cradle 2 Kindy as her name popped up on a couple of chat forums as having worked miracles.  Amazingly Sally not only responded to my husband's message but she came out to see us the following day - a bank holiday!

Within minutes of describing George's symptoms, Sally said without doubt that he had reflux.  She went on to talk about all the other symptoms that we hadn't even been aware of - like his frequent nose rubbing and gulping and the desire to drink milk to soothe his throat - apparently all signs of reflux.  It was such a huge relief to finally have an answer.  She talked us through some practical tips and possible medication he may need, and suggested other changes to help him recover.  So, although we were due to see the Paed the following week we went straight back to the GP to start on the medication.  Fortunately the GP prescribed medication which the Paed then confirmed was what we needed.  After an increase in the initial dose, here we are with a happy, settled little chap who sleeps solidly for 11 hours. It is such a relief.

Genna's Story

My husband and I have 2 year old twin boys, they (and we) had slept through the night a total of 5 times since they were born.  We were convinced they were just ‘bad sleepers’ so became used to sleep deprivation.  Finally we saved our money and asked Cradle 2 Kindy to send around a parenting coach convinced that she will meet her match with our two and we would be up for the next two nights trying to teach them to sleep.  Well, it took 15 minutes!   No Kidding!  That was 2 weeks ago now I am getting too much sleep.  The boys sleep through every night.  We almost felt embarrassed that she could teach them so quickly.  It was amazing, our only regret is no getting a parenting coach earlier.

Leanne's Email from WA

My son was diagnosed with Silent reflux at 6 weeks old. I remember feeling disappointed we didn't realise what was going on earlier. We gave him the small dose of Losec prescribed and thought we were on top of things. Things didn't get better. We had a day stay at the Mothercraft Residential Centre, (which he slept through, I must have called them at least 20 times, sought help from the local community health nurse and numerous appointments with our paediatrician.

Despite my efforts, we had no routine. I was feeding 3-4 times at night. Rocking him for 40 minutes in his pram to get a 20 minute sleep during the day. He was ALWAYS tired and would often have times where he would be screaming in pain for 1-2 hours until the pain subsided. My whole day consisted of me trying to get him to sleep. I was given so much conflicting information: it's a growth spurt, feed him more during the day, he will grow out of it. At 18 weeks I was told about C2K from a friend in Sydney. As we live in Perth, I was able to use C2K services via correspondence.

I cannot imagine what our lives would be like if we hadn't had the help from Cradle 2 Kindy. Our parenting coach, Sally has been heaven sent! Sally was correct...medication was the key to our son's contentment. I had got into so many bad habits just trying to keep him from crying and get him to sleep. Sally gave me the tools to completely change this around. I now have a son who sleeps during the day and sleeps through at night but most of all he isn't screaming in pain. I never imagined this could happen so quickly.

Using Cradle 2 Kindy via correspondence has been a piece of cake. Sally has always been contactable within a few hours when I have needed her. I managed to achieve everything she outlined. I have stuck to her advice and with persistence and being consistent, my son is living a much happier pain free life.

He is actually giggling and not crying during his up time.

If I could, I would nominate Sally for the Nobel peace prize!!! She has certainly bought peace to our house.

Having a baby with reflux is a challenge and can take its toll. I just feel so lucky to have had the opportunity for Sally to help us especially when no one in Perth could.

Katie – Email from Bathurst NSW

In desperation I called Cradle 2 Kindy for help with my 4 month old son waking at 45 minutes, not sleeping through the night, being unhappy in a car seat, pram and with tummy time.  Generally his disposition was miserable.

Not wanting to wait 3 months or travel 3 hours to Tresillian in Sydney and be away from my family for 5 days, I asked Cradle 2 Kindy to help.  They were more than happy to send a parenting coach 3 hours out to the Central West to assist us and were here within two days.  It's a real blessing that they are willing to assist families in need in the country.

The results from her visit are outstanding.  I now have a happy son who is doing everything he should be and I am a much more confident and relaxed mother.

Thank you for everything you've done for us.   You are worth your weight in gold!

Catherine’s Letter of Thanks – Adelaide S. Aust

After 8 months of no sleep, and listening to our twin babies constantly screaming who seemed to always be in pain, we approached C2K for some phone advice - we don't have anything like her service in Adelaide.  The medical professionals we had spoken with felt that while there was a possibility they may have silent reflux it was more likely that they were just very difficult babies.  The trial of reflux medication had not seemed to work either.  Our C2K coach was certain that the boys had silent reflux and that their dosage of medication was not sufficient.  Although this seemed contradictory to our paediatrician's advice, it made sense to me (even in our completely sleep deprived state) so our coach advice gave us the confidence to approach a different paediatrician who agreed to increase the dosage of Losec.  The change in the boys was almost instant, they now sleep beautifully and so do we.  Thanks Cradle 2 Kindy!

Nadine's Story

Cradle 2 Kindy arranged for a parenting coach who helped us on two separate occasions. One was in assisting us and our doctor on the day of our son’s Brit. It was very reassuring and helpful to have our coach’s practical experience on such a stressful procedure. We also had the opportunity to discuss feeding and sleep issues. A few days later I called her to help me through some of these issues. Her sound advice has assisted me in moving forward from what has been a difficult start in breastfeeding. North Bondi, NSW

Tracey's Story

Although I desperately wanted to breastfeed I was in a terrible state and ready to give up.  I had terrible damaged, cracked and bleeding nipples, was using the nipple shield on one side and was expressing from the other.  I had received advice and had a lactation consultant visit with no success.  My husband had heard of Cradle 2 Kindy through a colleague at work so we arranged a visit.   Having gone through agony every time I put my baby to the breast I was extremely anxious and very tentative about feeding my baby.  So, you can imagine how terrified I was when our coach wanted to put my baby straight onto the sore nipple.  But my fear soon went.  The coach first demonstrated a new technique she called the 'flick' method.  It was amazing! I couldn't believe it was that simple.  Now, no more nipple shield, no more top up with the bottle and no more expressing just pain free breastfeeding.  I'm loving it.  Why isn't this method taught by all the midwives?

Kathy's Letter of Thanks

* The service and advice from Cradle 2 Kindy far exceeded my expectations.  Information provided was carefully explained and in notes which I am constantly referring back to.  We feel confident and happy to continue the routine and settling techniques that were shown and breastfeeding is no longer painful!!!  And the ongoing support is invaluable.  I should have called you sooner!  Thank you!!

* As a first time Mum and in my first week of sleep deprivation and breastfeeding issues, I was very overwhelmed and really not sure where to turn.

We called Cradle to Kindy because I was having breastfeeding problems and was ready to give up completely.   Our baby girl was premature and a sleepy feeder.  She would get on for a short time and then fall asleep which meant I was constantly feeding her day and night.  Our coach was great.  I learnt a new technique for attaching, how to increase my supply and what to do to encourage my little girl to have a proper feed instead of snacking.  I learnt so many things in such a short visit it was really worth it.  We now have a happy sleeping baby who is still breast fed.  Thank you for being there when we needed you.

Larissa & Aaron Wright’s Comments

I knew that our parenting coach's ideas would be helpful, as our little man settled straight away, when our coach went in to settle him. She shared specific, practical and helpful advice to settle him and implement a routine. We really appreciated the way things were explained in straightforward way to help us understand how we could help Jordan. Jordan already seems more settled. Today he slept for 3 hours during his "fussy period", for the first time since being born! Implementing sensible, practical ideas has already helped us to feel more confident in the way we care for, feed, comfort and settle our little boy.   (Aaron Wright is from HOPE radio Sydney)

Natalie’s Testimony

Having my third child I thought this child would be easier.  We were wrong.  Our coach picked up that our son had reflux and told me exactly how to handle it.  I follow her routine by the book and now we are enjoying our child.  The session was very informative and a real eye opener even for someone with prior experience.  Our parenting coach's really felt for me and our situation.

Fiona’s Story

Cradle 2 Kindy was recommended to us by a work colleague the day before I went on maternity leave.  Of all the baby recommendations that were given to us it’s been the best.  Our coach came to us on day 2 after coming home from hospital.  By having her in so early, it helped us get confidence where we had none as we had no prior experience in parenting or indeed with young children.

Our baby boy looks like he has reflux and our coach gave us some practical solutions to try and overcome this early. She taught us about the importance of trying to get into a routine and gave us lots of settling techniques to try and ensure we do the best for our baby and retain our sanity. We had no idea what to expect and what was “normal baby behaviours”.

The time when you come out from hospital is when you are most tired and vulnerable – and it’s when you need most energy and knowledge to get through the first few weeks!  C2K’s home visit helps get you over that hump and gave the three of us lots of ideas and helped get us some rest! She didn’t judge us by how tidy our house was or how stressed or emotional we were.

Now we are learning every day and with our coach providing us an invaluable back up by phone service it has helped us to tackle things head on and with a lot more confidence than we would have had otherwise.

Kass’s Comments

Cradle 2 Kindy has been a God send to our family and we couldn't have done it without our supportive parenting coach. Our coach has been reliable every step of the way and such a great encouragement. I know I can count on their expertise and advice for every situation.

Sally was our nurse at my son’s Brit Milah.  Although we weren’t having problems yet, Sally told us that she suspected he had reflux.  A few weeks later, after I started having breast feeding problems with him and the screaming started, I called Sally and she spent the next few weeks giving me invaluable advise and support as the reflux became very unpleasant for my son and for our family.

Katie's Letter of Thanks

Hi Sally, I just wanted to thank you for all the support that you provided to our new little family. We are using your routine effectively and Mark is now sleeping well! Your diagnosis of Mark's reflux was spot on. Once we started him on the medication, we noticed a remarkable improvement and were so relieved. Your website continues to be a useful source of information, as he grows, the articles are very informative. Thanks again for all your support. It’s great that you are there to support not just at the consultation but also readily available to answer any questions on the phone. Very reassuring for a first time Mum with parents overseas! Best wishes Katie.

HAPPY LIFE!

Cradle 2 Kindy's service was outstanding, the information provided was clear, practical, useful and spot on.  My questions were answered before I even asked them, due to the thorough information provided; this has enabled me to truly understand my baby and his needs.

Within half an hour of meeting my husband and I, our coach suggested that our baby may have reflux as he has hardly slept for 6 weeks since he was born.  She was correct and since her practical help and advice, and medication from our paediatrician, our baby is sleeping well and is much happier.  The support information and ability to call for follow up advice is invaluable.  My only regret is not calling sooner!  Fantastic! I highly recommend their service.

Carol's Story

I cannot thank Cradle 2 Kindy enough. Their service completely changed our little girl for the better. She was constantly in pain and would not sleep. She was very hard to be around and especially to see her crying and screaming in pain all the time. Our C2K coach gave us suggestions on how to administer the medication effectively and also assisted me with sleep techniques and aids. These things were just amazing. We now have a happy baby that smiles and giggles and best of all sleeps!!. Nothing was ever a problem for our coach.  I rang her so so many times and she was always willing to help. I highly recommend this service - there is nothing to lose and so much to gain.

Angela's Story

I can't thank Cradle 2 Kindy enough for our parenting coach, her practical knowledge, guidance and straight talking. As a first time mum I had no idea why Ellie was so unhappy all the time and not sleeping - everyone just said she'd grow out of it. But I was overwhelmed and beyond tired so the knowledge and day plan (and diagnosis of silent reflux) that our coach shared saved my sanity. Ellie is like a different baby - so much happier and I am a much happier (and more rested) mum. Thank you!

Cradle 2 Kindy was amazing. It was a bit of a whirlwind for the time our parent coach was here as our son was hysterical, but I felt a real sense of compassion for what we were dealing with, when others had told me to 'deal with a crying baby'. (we had even been to emergency with him and they sent us home with leaflets on colic). Our coach quickly diagnosed reflux and sent us to a great paediatrician – Dr James. He's on Losec and Zantac and now his reflux is under control. We feel we can finally get to know our little boy!  It's changed his life and brought happiness and smiles where there were tears and pain. I couldn't ask for anymore than that. I feel I can call our coach anytime and she will always endeavour to help and give confidence that your doing the right thing - or not be afraid to let you know if not!  Honesty is something I think all parents strive to find in the flurry of information and it's great to have a point of contact you can trust.

Cradle 2 Kindy Parenting Solutions has helped with both our children now. I was referred to them by a friend when my son was 10 weeks old. We already had a lot of 'bad' habits like rocking him to sleep and we were also dealing with reflux. After a visit from our coach we worked hard at the routine and all the tips she gave us and within 2 weeks he was sleeping so well and even 8 hrs at night!! When our daughter arrived I called our coach when she was just 2.5 weeks. I was breast feeding and the 'demand' feeding that everyone tells you is necessary was driving us crazy and our little girl was becoming more unsettled. Within 24 hours of our coach's visit she was down to 6 feeds in 24 hrs and in a routine!! Our coach's assistance with my two kids has been second to none. No amount of reading or advice from doctors/nurses etc could compare. I tell everyone that there is something 'magic' about Cradle 2 Kindy's service - they have been our family's lifesaver. Thanks C2K!!!!.

Hana's Testimonial

Our son was very unsettled from the day he was born. We put it down to a fussy baby. Sally Hall was recommended to us by our paediatrician to come and help us with settling, so we could get some much needed sleep. After a few moments of Sally watching our son’s behaviour she said “you cannot settle a child that is in pain”. We could not believe our ears.  Sally believed that our baby had either reflux or a dairy intolerance.   She proceeded to advise us about techniques we could use in the meantime to make our baby more comfortable....which worked. We went back to our paediatrician and started to treat our son for BOTH reflux and dairy intolerance and what do you know....he stopped crying. Thank you Sally without our help who knows what would have happened to us!

Jane Story

* We were desperate!

After 3mths of going back and forward to doctors, paediatricians and night monitoring in hospital I was ready to slap the next person who told me I had a "wingy baby".  Our parenting coach came over and within minutes finally someone was listening to me and confirmed my belief that there was more to my daughters screaming and unsettledness it was GERD.  After changing to Neocate and Losec I finally got to meet my daughter and found myself again.  Thank you Cradle 2 Kindy.

* I was a desperate mother of very unsettled twins.

My 4 month old was waking 5 to 6 times per night. I knew she had a reflux problem but I was using a dummy for this and thickened formula. She had a fairly organised day routine so I could tell something was not right with her reflux that her night sleeping was poor. Cradle 2 Kindy was a fantastic help as our coach came to my home and explained to me the pattern of disturbance that occurs with reflux ie unsettled in the late afternoon and in the early morning (3 to 5am). She managed to settle my baby within 1 sleep cycle by changing the way she was wrapped, not using the dummy when first put to sleep so she could learn to self settle, tipping the bed and discussing medications with me. Now my baby is sleeping from the dream feed to 5am without stirring and we are getting some much needed sleep. I wish I had known this information for my first child who I realise now would have benefited from these strategies too.

Leslie's Comments

We were recommended C2K from a friend of a friend, due to our 18 week old not sleeping.  He was waking every 2 hours through the night and I'd stopped feeding him but he still needed help to settle.  I knew he'd got used to me patting him to sleep but didn't know how to stop, he was also a reflux baby which could make him unsettled.  Sally came and stayed for two nights and after taking her advice our little boy woke once on the first night, at 3am, on the second night he slept from 7.30pm - 6.30am.  He has continued to sleep through the night since (with the odd hiccup here and there) and also sleeps a lot better in the day.  We feel a lot more confident with our parenting skills and have a happier baby! Having Sally on the end of the phone has also been a great peace of mind.

Catherine's Email

Words cannot express our gratitude for your expertise and help. We were at wits end regarding getting our 4.5 month old baby boy to sleep and had no idea our poor petal had silent reflux. I was totally amazed at the difference your suggestions made immediately (within 12 hours). We went from a screaming, 'fighting sleep' boy who couldn't sleep longer than 20 mins during the day, fed every 3 hours and was awake up to 5 times per night - to sleeping 4-6 hours during the day in 2 hour blocks and sleeping during the night on your first visit. I was also delighted you gave me the courage to wake my 'non sleeper' to dream feed him - he now can sleep through the entire night! An equal thrill to sleeping is how you managed to get us to self settle him on the first night (after 4.5 months of consistent rocking him to sleep in our arms that took anything from 1 hour to 3 hours and during the day 45 mins of rocking for a 20 min sleep reward with only 10 mins of this in the cot)! You have completely changed all our lives for the better and provided us with a 24 hour baby routine that has made our baby boy so much happier and calmer. I still can't believe my 8 kilo plus baby can quickly self settle on his own with your techniques - it is like a dream for a chronically sleep deprived family. And I love we can now choose where he sleeps during the day (not forced to take the pram or drive the car on freeways) the cot is now our first option! My husband and I are also eating hot dinners together for the first time since he was born ...

You are a real life Mary Poppins to us - and I would recommend you (and have) to anyone with an unsettled baby or needing expert sleep and feeding advice. Your knowledge, friendliness and professionalism are unique.

Thank you, thank you for radically changing our lives - we are so pleased to have found you.  Eternally grateful!

Leanne's Email from WA

* My son was diagnosed with Silent reflux at 6 weeks old.

Bettina's email

Despite being well read with regards to baby routines and settling I was at a loss when our newborn daughter Mackenzie proved a challenge to get to sleep before I had even left the hospital. Our parenting coach from Cradle 2 Kindy visited us in the early weeks and put all the routine and settling information back into perspective and confirmed our suspicions that Mackenzie had reflux. She provided invaluable information on how to manage the reflux and gave us the confidence to return back to basics and teach Mackenzie to self settle on her own. Within a day Mackenzie had learnt to self settle and I was amazed by the quick response. However, due to the severity of her reflux and a delay in getting her on the right medicine the self settling regressed.  Our parenting coach returned for a 2 day stay to provide hands on practical advice for reflux management and by the end of the 2 days I felt a lot more confident. As an added bonus she helped us to get our 2 year old daughter to go to sleep at night without a bottle and without being nursed to sleep. A couple more months down the track and Mackenzie still wasn't self settling due to a little too much assisted settling (patting) from me! She had also become a lot more unsettled throughout the night due to her weight gain slowing down and being hungry.

Another visit from our parenting coach and she gave more advice on increasing my milk supply, persisting with trying to introduce the bottle and reaffirming the settling technique. After only a few days Mackenzie responded beautifully and is now almost sleeping straight through from one feed to the next and is only waking at night for feeds.

I found the help and advice provided by Cradle 2 Kindy far more practical and superior to any book or advice I have received from other health care professionals. I cannot thank them enough for their help and have recommended them too many of my friends.

Annette's update email

Thought I would update you on how Lily is going. Since we last spoke Lily was refusing the bottle and going on 15-18 hr hunger strikes. We spent a few days in hospital as her personality changed. Our Paediatrician thought that Lily might be more wary of the taste of Neocate so she suggested trying another formula that the hospital stocks. We tried Lily on this formula while we stayed in hospital so they could watch her for possible reactions.  Thankfully Lily didn't react.

We have since changed her to that formula and she now takes 150-180 ml per feed and feeds every 4 hrs. We still give her the dream feed between 10-11. Sometimes she sleeps through till 5:30-7 am and sometimes she gets up between 3-4 am, at which point we resettle her to sleep. She is still taking Nexium in 2 doses. She is able to put herself to sleep and has nice long sleeps during the day for 2 - 3 hrs.

Thank you so much for all your help through all the challenging months!

Elizabeth's Story

We brought home from the hospital a very unsettled baby and gained help from C2K immediately to get some advice. Although our baby settled to some extent, after a couple of months things progressively worsened. C2K had told us about reflux, however we were hesitant to use medication so soon. We saw many health professionals, read extensively and talked to other parents. We were told we had a 'difficult baby' and other parents we knew weren't experiencing anything like this. It was impossible to establish any routine. Some practitioners even told us that reflux doesn’t exist in babies.

Our daughter stopped gaining weight, sleep was limited and fractured and we had tried so many things to help her, including sleep training. We were all sleep deprived and after almost 6 months of struggling we finally called C2K again. Sally came to see us quickly and established that we were still dealing with silent reflux as well as behavioural issues. We began medication and within 2 nights of Sally's support we saw noticeable changes. Within 3 nights our daughter slept overnight for 10 hours (with 1 dream feed)- something we had thought almost impossible. The process was difficult for a new parent, yet very effective and supportive. We couldn't have achieved this without C2K.

It is now one week later and our baby is sleeping peacefully throughout the night and her day sleeps are also improving. She is getting much more sleep, is happier, and we are confident we can continue this approach and routine as she develops.

We would strongly recommend C2K to any parents who would like the support of a very competent and committed professional, who can provide help in many ways.

Marie's Testimonial

I rang Cradle 2 Kindy when my mental health was at its lowest after having a 6 month old that had never slept for more than 20 minutes, day or night. Our coach was a life saver, literally. Firstly I was so impressed that she could come at such short notice.  She diagnosed reflux and assisted in a routine to help manage the reflux and to have my little one self-settle. From that first night our now 7 month old has slept through the night. My husband was originally unhappy with my decision to have someone come as he could not see how they could make a difference in such a short time.

However he is now telling everyone how it was the best money we have ever spent and he wished we had done it earlier. So thank you Cradle 2 Kindy, you have restored my sanity, given me a new life as the happy person I used to be.  It has been over 4 weeks now and everything is going wonderfully. We are all getting sleep and are a much happier family.

Kristyn's Letter of Thanks

I cannot recommend this service enough. I am eternally grateful to Cradle to Kindy for the expert advice and help we received. I was at breaking point with a 6 month old who for the last 2 months only catnapped in the day and slept and 1hr at night if lucky, plus trying to manage an extremely active 3 yr old. I had sought help from paediatrician, GP, clinic nurse, other mums but all to no avail.

I needed someone to come to our home as I couldn't do a stay away program so I did a search and found C2K. I was very hesitant at first but now my only regret is not knowing about them earlier. Sally was brilliant and came and did a night stay that night. She diagnosed a reflux problem, put some new management into place and by the second night the baby was sleeping through and we are continuing to see great results with both children. Whilst it is not always easy implementing a new routine and procedure, and I still feel nervous and uncertain at times, the change is amazing. I am so grateful". Yarrawarrah NSW

Dear Sally, Thanks for your email. Since you came to see Ella at 8 weeks old, she has been like a different child! The routine you gave us has been fantastic too and we have found the instructions and advice you gave us easy to follow. We are both so much more confident now and I think that has reflected on Ella also.  I find I have so much more time in the day with her new feeding regime which is wonderful.  I find the newsletter emails we receive great for advice, some of the info in them has been very timely.  We really couldn't be happier and are so grateful to you!  Our only regret is not calling Cradle 2 Kindy sooner! Hope all is well with you :)
Kind regards,

Mary's Story

Our son was a cranky baby right from the start. Health workers consistently described him as “colicky”, but as the months went by and nothing changed, we became desperate to find the root cause. We discovered he had an intolerance to certain foods which gave him reflux, but even after those foods were eliminated from my diet (and his) and the vomiting stopped, his mood was still terrible. My partner and I were convinced that he was overtired, but try as we might we could never get him to sleep for more than half an hour or forty five minutes during the day; he had developed some very bad patterns due to being held and rocked so much to alleviate his discomfort from the reflux. Enter our parenting coach. Using the settling techniques recommended by Cradle 2 Kindy, our seven month old son was soon napping for much longer periods. On the same day that the coaching started, he had two naps that lasted over two hours. We didn’t realise he was capable of sleeping so much! Since the coaching session we have modified our son’s routine and settling procedures slightly, but he is a changed boy and everything is still going very well. He still wakes up very early in the morning (5 AM--aagghh) but he is now generally happy to stay in his cot and chatter away to himself for about an hour. We are much more relaxed and well rested these days! The other positive outcome from the coaching session relates to our son’s physical development. He always hated tummy time and as a result was very late rolling over, but having a coach present to reinforce the importance of lots of tummy time, he was soon setting personal bests.

Nadine's Testimonial

I called Cradle 2 Kindy when my baby was around 6 months old. She had been diagnosed as having reflux and was having extremely disturbed day sleeps. She was very irritable and the medicine she had been prescribed seemed to have little effect on alleviating her distress. She was also waking up several times a night, which was very exhausting for all of us. Our Cradle 2 Kindy consultant came around and stayed 2 nights, teaching us how to settle her when she woke. The second night she didn't wake at all and after that she stopped waking during the night at all, unless she was unwell. We were given advice on the appropriate measures to take to control of her reflux - which worked wonders. She is now 16 months old and doing great. I cannot recommend Cradle 2 Kindy highly enough and am so grateful for the wonderful help and support our Cradle 2 Kindy consultant gave us.  Mosman NSW

Isobel's story

* Our son George (a twin to Connie) had always been a 'windy' baby.

FLAT HEAD

Jan's Story

After Victoria was born we noticed that she preferred to lay and sleep with her chin closest to her Left shoulder which caused a flat spot on her skull.  After going to an Osteopath for nearly 2 months and the area becoming worse.  The Osteopath referred us to Candle 2 Kindy.  Our parenting coach was fantastic with her help and guidance.  Together we looked at ways to help prevent the flat spot getting worse.  Since buying the Safe T Sleep from them, within 2 weeks we noticed that not only was her head starting to reshape, but she was sleeping better and more importantly she is able to look from side to side without any trouble.  Cradle 2 Kindy has helped to prevent our daughter from having future problems with her development and growth.

Thanks Sally you are our Mary Poppins and we are grateful for all your advice and most importantly for your continued support.

I have had Victoria head checked recently and the osteopath say she has made great progress and it seems to be going back into shape.

CIRCUMCISION & BRIT MILAH

Dana's Comments

Our parenting coach took the pressure and some of the stress out of this very special occasion. I don't know how parents could do it without the assistance given by Cradle 2 Kindy. What's more we were given lots of practical advice for parenting and newborn care including assistance with breastfeeding. Our nurse even stayed overnight to assist us with after care.

Roslyn's Comments

Our coach was professional, friendly and skilled. Always responsive on the phone and with emails.   We appreciated the mothercraft advice that was as an additional service to the circumcision support provided. It was very practical mothercraft advice.   We also appreciated the routine provided.  Even though I was a bit reluctant to try it at first, it has been working perfectly.

Thanks to C2K I survived my son's Brit Milah, I was kept busy talking before and after the ceremony which kept me distracted. Our nurse was very helpful, informative, and comforting.

Gayle’s Testimony

Fantastic! Invaluable! The standard of care was far more than we could have ever expected.  As a second time mum, I was amazed at the amount of hints and tips we were taught in the first hour.  Then throughout the day we were blown away with the new techniques taught to us that settled our baby instantly.

Our parenting coach came to us to help with the circumcision of our son.  We were both blown away by the care taken, extensive knowledge and wonderful persona of our parenting coach.  I would thoroughly recommend this service to any new mum, second time mum or any carer of a baby, toddler or child, to help or gain knowledge from a parenting coach from Cradle 2 Kindy.  What I thought would be a stressful day, turned out to be the most wonderfully educational day and totally invaluable.  Thank you for ‘saving the day!’

Elizabeth's Testimony

Our parenting coach for Cradle 2 Kindy came to us for five hours to assist with caring for our newborn on the day of his circumcision. We were delighted with her care in this regards but we weren’t counting on the helpful advice she offered on settling techniques and breastfeeding. As first time parents only just home from hospital, we really appreciated the guidance and support our coach provided. Dover Heights, NSW

Yael's Comments

Our parenting coach took charge at my twin boys Brit Milah – she did everything that needed to be done and knew the procedures of the Brit Milah. She also gave us some good practical advice. She was amazing and made the day seem so carefree. Thank you Cradle 2 Kindy. St Ives, NSW

Nadine's Story

* Cradle 2 Kindy arranged for a parenting coach who helped us on two separate occasions.

* We received practical information and help that I was able to use immediately.  I came away from the session feeling much better equipped to settle my baby.

* We learnt so much for our coach she gave such wonderful advice.

Thank you!!

Anna's Comments

* As a first time Mum and in my first week of sleep deprivation and breastfeeding issues, I was very overwhelmed and really not sure where to turn.

Kerri's Testimonial

* After coming home from hospital, my husband and I were worried we were patting our son to sleep.

Abby's Comments

We found Cradle 2 Kindy a useful service in the comfort of our own home environment and reasonably priced for the time spent with us. Our personal coach was friendly and very informative.

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for your great website and publications (as well as the giant wraps!).  Since I started a routine with my 4 month old, about 3 weeks ago, using lots of your advice from your e-book we haven’t looked back.  Before doing this I was finding myself frequently feeding after 3 hours, nearly having mastitis twice and generally feeling frazzled and unable to get out to do anything.  Maxine.

Baby Wraps

Amanda's Letter of Thanks

Thanks SO much for sending the wraps through so quickly.  I received them yesterday afternoon in time for last night's sleep. The night before we used your wrapping technique with our large muslins and our 7 month old only woke 3 or 4 times; prior to this she had been waking at least hourly (partly because she is battling the last of a heavy cold, partly because we co-sleep part of the night). But then last night, with the new wrapping technique and the jersey wrap, she woke only once (as far as I can remember) and didn't need rewrapping at all. So effectively this is the first night that she has slept through or almost through in 7 months. Co-incidence? We'll see tonight. But I certainly think it helped her being securely wrapped with her arms in a comfy position. Thanks again, Amanda.

Sleep CD

Lisa's Remarks

Amazing!  I just couldn't believe how quickly the Sleep Solutions CD helped our baby relax.  We had been using another CD but did not get the results we were hoping for so when our nurse suggested trying the Sleep Solutions CD we were very sceptical, but not for long.  Our baby boy was screaming his head off before we turned the CD on and within seconds he had quietened down and not long after that he dropped off to sleep. I couldn’t believe my eyes or ears.  We are talking about a baby who was always screaming at this time of day and impossible to get to sleep.  Thanks so much for saving our sanity and our baby’s sleep.

Brendan Byrne's CD testimonial:

Hey Sally, we used the 'sleep solutions' CD today for the first time. WOW! Our baby, Connor (3 weeks old), after about 5 hours of awake time, on and off feeding and crying, we turned on the CD and within 1 min he stopped crying, within 5 mins he was asleep....

E-book Publications

Christine's Email

The e-books are a great resource and very easy to reference with practical chapter headings. I found the different age books particularly useful as you ‘live in the moment’ with babies and I found it difficult to really absorb detailed information on 1 year olds when still with a 9 month baby!

Best of all these books are great trouble shooters – and I constantly referenced them for everything from food refusal, early morning waking, appropriate day routines, nutrition, reassurance on crying etc. As a first time mum I loved the fact these books were so practical/hands-on and you were not left guessing unlike some other baby ‘manual’ books! For example these e-books spell out the different ideas you can have for quiet time and actually give guidelines for time awake, sleep, number of milk feeds etc without being on a strict routine. Best of all I was much more relaxed mum having these books on hand as they are not too long (who has time to read those large books) but contain the essential information. Christine Callen.

0-3 months – The Cradle Will Rock

Fiona's Email

We found 'The Cradle Will Rock' e-book has been very helpful in many practical ways.  We were also amazed how quickly our baby responded to the tips and suggestion for settling our baby.  I also liked the way it debunked many of the myths surrounding sleep.  I feel I am now more confident in my parenting and would not hesitate to recommend these parenting e-books to others especially if you are a first time parent like us.  We are on to our second edition!  Fiona.

Jennifer's Email

* After a hard slog for the first week and probably an increase in the amount of crying in our house - that includes my baby, me, my husband (nearly) and probably my other 2 girls – I have noticed that we are all a lot more relaxed, me especially.

9-18 months – When the Wind Blows

Yasmine's Letter of Thanks

Your e-book has some great insights and unlike other baby books its age specific, to the point and very relevant.  My husband and I have learned valuable skills to help us be more confident.  Happy baby – happy parents!  Thank you, Yasmine.

Toddler & Child – When the Bough Breaks

Janelle's Letter of Thanks

We have found your Toddler and Child e-book a great help with our 3yr old daughter.  It not only provides practical tips but it is also very straight forward. We found the tips on behaviour very helpful especially in regards to setting boundaries, preparing for a new baby and sibling rivalry.  We put many of the suggestions into practice, particularly in preparation for our second child.  We feel these tips really helped our daughter prepare for the baby's home coming. We have since downloaded the 0 - 3 month e-book.  They are a great asset to me and my husband. Thanks.  Janelle.
