Wondered what that jumble of letters meant? Here is a rundown of the more commonly used abbreviations/acronyms.

AI - Assisted or Artificial Insemination

AID - Artificial Insemination with Donor Sperm

AIH - Artificial Insemination with husband's or partner's sperm

AP - Attachment Parenting

ART - Assisted Reproductive Technology

BBT - Basal Body temperature

BD - twice a day (medical term)

BFN - big fat negative (pregnancy test)

BFP - big fat positive (pregnancy test)

BG - Buddy Group

BNO - bowels not open (no poo)

BO - bowels open (poo)

BTW - by the way

BW – bare weight (baby weight without cloths)

CC - Controlled Crying

CD - cycle day

CIO - Cry it out

C2K - Cradle 2 Kindy

CM - cervical mucus

CS - Comfort Settling

CU - see you

CVS - Chorionic Villus Sampling

CW - clothed weight

DH, DS, DD, DF, DB - dear husband, dear son, dear daughter, dear fiancé, dear boyfriend

DSD, DSS - dear step daughter, dear step son

DI - Donor Insemination

DP - Dear Partner

DPO - days past ovulation

EBM - expressed breastmilk

EP - Ectopic Pregnancy

ER - Egg Retrieval

ET - Embryo Transfer

ETA - Edited to add

EW or EWCM - Egg White or Egg White Cervical Mucus (description of cervical mucus at ovulation time)

FET - Frozen Embryo Transfer (or fertilised egg transfer)

FSH - Follicle Stimulating Hormone

FTND - Full Term Normal Delivery

PROM - Premature Rupture of Membranes

PNU – Pass no urine

PU - Pass urine
